The GLP medical Group’s recipe for success over the past 30 years has been top quality in laboratory diagnostics, efficiency and economy in diagnosis, speed and reliability in service, and innovation in developing our automation and network solutions.

Probenfördersystem lab.smsFrom laboratory analytics and laboratory diagnostics to the online shop for laboratory and surgery equipment, through to software for laboratory automation and telematics in the health sector, we are your innovative, service-oriented partner.

The GLP medical Group now has more than 300 employees throughout Europe. In addition to our headquarters in Hamburg, we also have development centres in Hamburg, Cologne and Newcastle (UK).

The GLP medical Group guarantees quality, competent advice and efficiency in clinical diagnostics with its systems (a first on the market), laboratory automation and electronic data transfer between service providers in the healthcare sector.

The Group is divided up into independent business units, providing proximity to the customer as well as the ability to react flexibly to market signals on a global level.

Laboratory automation concept of the GLP medical Group

Laboratory operations (internal)

Laboratory operations

Today, clinical laboratories are generally run and supported by a Laboratory Information and Management System (LIMS), which in turn provides electronic sample registration, analysis, results and billing (marked in red).
The GLP medical Group has set itself the ambitious goal of taking this development to the next level. There are currently no such systems available on the global market, so GLP systems developed a sample delivery system – lab.sms®. The system can now be linked with the sy.lab® system, developed in parallel, to provide full automation – a world first in terms of performance and efficiency (marked in blue) . The solution guarantees reliability and efficiency within the GLP laboratories and ensures an increase in quality while drastically reducing costs and optimising logistics.
Our forward-looking vision is oriented towards an Order Entry LIMS module that can handle fully electronic orders, thus considerably optimising the sample registration process (marked in purple)

Sender communication

Sender communication

The customary sender communication method, also known as mailbox functionality, consists of remote data transfer that ensures that the sender can import laboratory data to his or her primary system electronically and in a structured manner (marked in red). GLP networks has also added star.net® Labor, an online results communication tool, meaning that GLP laboratories can now provide the sender with results in a graphically optimised, browser optimised manner (incl. graphics, additional information, etc.). The benefit of this is that the results are transferred in encrypted form and in real time. By clicking once on the respective results analysis, the user can call up additional analysis or topic-specific information provided by the Content Management System (marked in blue) .

An Order Entry LIMS module for the sender is also in the pipeline: An Order Entry system allows the laboratory to receive all order data from the sender electronically, thus saving the sender a lot of time and money due to material savings (marked in purple). A stand-alone version can be used here, but it will not be able to guarantee transfer of all the data required to provide optimised results, e.g. master data, diagnoses, etc. This is where star.net® Praxis, a communication and administrative solution developed for doctors, health care centres and outpatient centres, comes into play. star.net® Praxis can send important additional information from the doctor’s electronic file card in XML format. This concept can also be used to ensure automation when it comes to the selection of reagents for specific tests and displaying additional instructions on how to take blood and transport it. Sources of error are optimised in such an easy way – and it saves the sender time, too.
